Closing Presentation

The final presentation of the project "Student Accommodation at the University of Rijeka Campus - Phase 1 (TRIS)'' was held today at the Rijeka University Student center's Café "Akvarij" at the University Campus of Rijeka.

The University of Rijeka Rector, Professor Snježana Prijić-Samaržija, Ph.D., opened the presentation, greeted those present and thanked the official services of the Rector’s Management Board, Ministry of regional development and EU funds, Ministry of science and education, Central finance and contracting agency, Student center and to everyone who had contributed and been involved in the project. ''With this project, we have significantly improved student standard in Rijeka, more than doubled the accommodation capacities and opened the door to foreign students as well, and all for the purpose of internationalization of the University. Since 54% of our students come from outside of this county, and not to mention that not all of them are from Rijeka, with almost 1.500 declined student accommodation applications, it must be clear to everyone that this is not enough and that we need to work on it in the future as well. Thank you for your cooperation and help and congratulations to those included in this significant project'', Madam Rector stated.

The project "Student Accommodation at the University of Rijeka Campus - Phase 1 (TRIS)'' has been approved as a part of the try-out ''Modernization, improvement and expansion of student accommodation infrastructure for disadvantaged students'' published within the Operative program Competitiveness and cohesion 2014 – 2020. Project’s implementation started on 16 January 2015 and is set to finish on 16 November 2017. Total acceptable costs of the project are 178.629.017,85 HRK, out of which the amount of 151,834,665.17 HRK (85%) comes from the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund, while the amount of 26,794,352.68 HRK (15%) is a national contribution.

Project TRIS is of great significance for the University of Rijeka because its realization increases the availability of studies and contributes to the increase of the student standard. The project allows for the student mobility to be strengthened within the framework of European and other programs, which will contribute to the intensification of research activities and the internationalization of the University.

By investing into student accommodation and Campus, the University of Rijeka proudly invests into a better tomorrow for its students, professors, as well as its city and the whole community.
