More on the Conference:

The Western Balkans region experiences constant challenges of political and social processes that call for theoretical elaboration. The need for such elaboration lies in the long-term influence that these processes have on the societies of former Yugoslavia.

More than 25 years have passed since the wars in this area, but the violations and effects of these historical events still have a strong influence not only on the policies of the countries involved in the war but almost on all levels of society. There is a wide range of research and conferences on wars in the former Yugoslavia, but this conference will not focus on wars, but on the lasting impact of past conflicts on our societies.

The conference will focus on the state of “frozen conflicts”, along with contributions on the nature of political violence, political reconciliation, disagreement resolution etc. The conference will also explore yet another cause of internal conflicts within our societies – i.e. migrations and the “Balkan Route”.

Contributors to this conference include a wide range of eminent experts, diplomats and activists from Croatia and abroad.

The respective working languages of the Conference: English and Croatian.
