Saturday Morning with Physics

The second edition of the Physics Popularization Program, entitled Saturday Morning with Physics, was held on Saturday, December 15th, 2018, at the University of Rijeka Campus. The program is part of the project of the same name organized by the UNIRI Department of Physics, and funded by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia.

Saturday Morning with Physics includes research-focused laboratory exercises conducted by domestic scientists and experts in the field of education physics, covering a wide range of fields of physics: mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, wave optics, modern physics, and astrophysics. Such laboratory exercises imply students’ active involvement in the methods of predicting, measuring, organizing, describing, explaining, concluding, considering application possibilities, presentations, and discussing experimental results. In this way, the traditional teaching approach is no longer the only approach, because the students are given the opportunity to develop their critical thinking skills.

The students also attended a scientific-popular lecture entitled ''Neutrinos – Messengers from the Distant Universe'' with the aim of getting acquainted with modern technologies and observations from astronomy. Professor Marin Karauza, Ph.D., Program Manager, awarded the Certificates of Participation to the students.
