Assist. Prof. Vanja Smokvina, Ph.D., Vice-Dean for Professional Study Affairs at the UNIRI Faculty of Law, has been appointed the arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland. CAS is the highest legal entity in the world, in charge of the resolution of sports disputes, based in Lausanne, Switzerland. The appointment applies to both of their lists of arbitrators. On the general list (for all sports), Prof. Smokvina is one of four arbitrators from Croatia, but he is also the first Croat in the history of the Court to be on a special list dealing exclusively with football matters.
