Under the European Regional Development Fund, the European Commission has adopted a new two-year programme for the I3 Instrument. The Interregional Innovation Investment Instrument (I3) creates links for interregional cooperation, bringing together stakeholders from different regions of the EU who invest in joint innovation projects within the framework of the Smart Specialization Strategy (S3).
We encourage you to study in detail the opportunities listed in the new programme and establish contacts with partners in the EU with whom you can form consortia and conduct projects. Examples of contracted projects under the I3 Instrument can be found here: I3 Contracted Projects.
The first calls for proposals are planned as early as spring, but no later than the end of May 2023. Thematic priorities are green and digital transition as well as smart manufacturing with a focus on technological solutions to achieve climate neutrality and environmental sustainability. In addition to participation in existing value chains across the EU, the creation of new value chains in less developed regions is particularly encouraged.
Under the I3 Instrument, one of the planned calls for project proposals to strengthen regional innovation ecosystems has been announced and is open until March 16, 2023.
