In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly declared February 11th the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The goals of this day’s celebration are: to promote equal participation of girls and women in education, training, work, and decision-making in science, the elimination of all discrimination against women, including in the fields of education and employment, and overcoming legal, economic, social and cultural barriers by fostering the development of educational policies and programs, including school curricula, with a view to encouraging greater participation of women and girls, promoting career development in the sciences and recognizing women’s achievements in science.

At the beginning of January 2019, the University of Rijeka started implementing a project called “Supporting and Implementing Plans for Gender Equality in Academia and Research” (SPEAR).

We take this opportunity to congratulate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science to all the women working at the University of Rijeka!
