After joining YUFE Alliance and becoming its full member in July 2020, the University of Rijeka now has the honor and a privilege to be one of the first institutions to be invited to join the Young European Research Universities Network (YERUN) since its inception in 2015. On top of that, our University will be the first university from this part of Europe to join YERUN.
YERUN is a non-profit association that brings together 17 young research-oriented universities from among the top 50 ranking universities in Europe, whose founding goals are to strengthen and develop cooperation in the areas of research, academic education, and service to society among a cluster of highly-ranked, young research universities in Europe on an equal basis and for their common benefit. YERUN’s strategic actions are focused on education collaboration, EU policy, employability of graduate students, research collaboration, and open science.
YERUN brings new perspectives and strengths to the European discussions and ensures that its needs are considered within the European agenda to the benefit of individuals and society at large. By working together, all YERUN members strive to contribute to responding to the developmental challenges of the societies we live in, adopting a European perspective on global issues.
In addition to the already established cooperation with several YERUN members which are also YUFE members, this is another stellar opportunity for our University, as we are now able to lay the foundation for new avenues of collaboration with other young European universities, such as the University of Southern Denmark, Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, University of Ulm, Paris Dauphine University and others.
