As part of the activities of the regional project University and Gender Mainstreaming (UNIGEM), representatives of the University of Rijeka held a two-day seminar in Sarajevo from 14 to 17 March 2022. Seminar, which included various workshops and practice, was attended by project coordinators, members of newly established university bodies for gender equality and other university staff.
The seminar was attended by about 90 representatives from 17 universities from the region – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia – participating in the project.
The seminar was held by Ms. Daria Glavan Šćulac and Ms. Ana Tomaško Obradović, both experts for the matter at hand, who discussed the introduction and implementation of gender mainstreaming policies in higher education institutions, emphasizing the peculiarities of transferring knowledge and experiences of the University of Rijeka to comparable environments of partner institutions, all experiencing different stages of structural support for the introduction and implementation of gender mainstreaming policies.
The educators also touched upon UNIRI’s experiences in participating in the Horizon 2020 project SPEAR, the process of adopting the UNIRI Gender Equality Plan and practical examples of gender mainstreaming in institutional rules, procedures, and practices.
As part of this two-day seminar, Prof. Jasmina Husanović, Ph.D., from the University of Tuzla, held a workshop on contemporary forms of misogyny and sexism.
