Advancing Science Symposium

Under the esteemed co-organization of Professors Nenad Ban, Ivan Đikić, Igor Rudan, and Igor Štagljar, the University of Rijeka is delighted to invite you to the symposium Advancing Science: Croatia’s Biomedical Summit.

This two-day event, taking place on September 27-28, 2024, at the University of Rijeka will serve as a platform for renowned scientists from Croatia and its diaspora to convene and engage in an intellectual discourse surrounding pivotal topics in contemporary biomedicine and molecular biology. Topics of discussion will include: Precision Medicine, Immunotherapy and Cancer Research, Neuroscience and Brain Health, Infectious Diseases and Vaccines, Global Health, Bioinformatics and Data Science, and more.

Embracing a collaborative ethos, the symposium will adopt a roundtable discussion format, prioritizing the exchange of ideas and insights over traditional lecture-style presentations. The symposium will incorporate specialized interactive panel sessions geared towards facilitating in-depth dialogue with the audience. These sessions will delve into the following topics:

  • Inspiring and guiding the next generation of scientists in their career pursuits and addressing their inquiries
  • Disseminating scientific knowledge effectively within the public domain and counteracting prevalent anti-scientific sentiments
  • Cultivating and strengthening collaborative networks  between scientists in Croatia and abroad
  • Analyzing and strategizing approaches to overcome obstacles in scientific communication
