Conference: Sexual and gender-based violence prevention in education

The University of Rijeka is a proud host of the conference entitled “International summer institute: Prevention of sexual and gender-based violence in education: International approach to theory and effective practice”, set to be held on July 3-7, 2023 at the University of Rijeka Campus.

The opening of the conference will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 1 PM at the UNIRI Student Center’s ”Akvarij” Cafe, and all participants will be greeted by:

  • Prof. Snježana Prijić Samaržija, Ph.D., Rector of the University of Rijeka
  • Prof. Njoki Wane, Ph.D., Chair, Social Justice Education, OISE, University of Toronto, Canada
  • Mrs. Sandra Krpan, Deputy Mayor of Rijeka
  • H.E. Mr. Alan Bowman, Ambassador of Canada to Croatia and Kosovo.

This international summer institute focuses on the important global issue of designing and implementing effective programmes and policies for the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence in education, with an emphasis on research from international and comparative perspectives.

Conference organizers: Social Justice Education and Center for Media, Culture and Education, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto (Canada), Center for Advanced Studies of Southeast Europe of the University of Rijeka, and the City of Rijeka, with the support of the Embassy of Canada to Croatia and Kosovo.
