In January 2021 a new Erasmus+ sports project named Understanding, Evaluating, and Improving Good Governance in the Employment Relations of Athletes in Olympic Sports in Europe (EMPLOYS) has started. The Project is coordinated by Deutsche Sporthohlschule Köln (Germany) and the University of Rijeka, in partnership with the UNIRI Faculty of Law, together with Universidade Europeia (Portugal), Edge Hill University (United Kingdom), Institute for Sports Governance (Poland), and athletes’ representatives: European Elite Athletes Association (EU Athletes) and European Olympic Academies. It is a two-year collaborative partnership project.
This collaborative partnership aims at improving good governance in the employment relations of athletes in Olympic sports in EU-27 Member States, Norway, and the United Kingdom. The Project is providing, evaluating and sharing evidence-based information, practices, and recommendations in an important, yet largely neglected, subdomain of sport and governance connected to sportspersons in the Olympic sports.
More about the project is available on the Project webpage and on the European Commission Erasmus+ projects webpage.
