New Lifelong Learning Programmes by the University of Cyprus

18.10.2021. / news / YUFE Alliance

The University of Cyprus (UCY) is committed to continuing to develop innovative lifelong learning programmes, so as to provide adult and lifelong learning opportunities in the community, the workplace, and for individual learners. It is dedicated to offering them enriching educational experiences in a welcoming atmosphere with state-of-the-art facilities while being taught by the UCY academics. By enabling them to acquire new skills and knowledge, they are eventually better prepared for their current jobs, new responsibilities, or alternative careers, and are also more competitive for the job market locally and internationally.

In this context, the UCY launched in 2020 a new lifelong learning initiative, the UCY Lifelong Learning Programme, to address the needs of its alumni and students as well. It is a bold initiative, representing the UCY’s strong commitment to its alumni and students, as well as its ambition to be their anchor for lifelong learning.

Target audience
All UCY alumni may participate in the lifelong learning programmes (LLPs), who are preferably employed in a field related to the topic of the seminar. Also, non-alumni (university students and staff & non-university members at large) are given the opportunity to participate, under the condition that there are available positions.

In order to obtain the certificate of attendance, every participant must complete the whole seminar cycle. In addition to receiving the attendance certificate, the students have the opportunity to be awarded ECTS credits.

The LL Programmes are offered either online, or in class, or with a combination of the two, following the COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols, the UCY has put in place. The language of teaching is either Greek or English. A number of participants to each programme is subject to limited availability and the number of fees applied depends on the LLP’s length.
