Rector Prijić Samaržija meets with EC Vice-President Šuica

Rector of the University of Rijeka, Prof. Snježana Prijić Samaržija, Ph.D., met with the Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms. Dubravka Šuica, to discuss the University of Rijeka’s initiative to bring the seat of the Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) for water, marine and maritime sectors and ecosystems to Croatia.

Knowledge and Innovation Communities are part of the European Institute for Innovation and Technology within the Horizon Europe program and are an important factor in strengthening the innovation capacity of the EU and all member states and the integration of higher education, research, and innovation of the so-called knowledge triangles. The meeting in Brussels was an excellent opportunity to also discuss innovation, youth engagement, and empowering young people with the knowledge and skills of the future.

Vice President of the European Commission Šuica expressed her support for new initiative and projects of the University of Rijeka.
