Welcome Day for incoming Erasmus students

On February 8, 2023, the International Mobility Center of the University in Rijeka, located at the University Campus, in the building of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, organized the Erasmus Welcome Day – an info-day for incoming Erasmus students who have come to study at our University for the twelfth year as part of the Erasmus program. Around 156 students arrived at the University in Rijeka in the summer semester.

The Academy of Applied Arts will host seven students: one student from Latvia from the “RISEBA” University of Applied Sciences, one student from Germany from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, three students from Poland from the Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa, one student from Ireland from the Technological University of the Shannon Midwest, as well as one student from Turkey from the Ege University in Izmir.

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will host 12 students: three students from Poland from the Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań and the Jesuit University Ignatianum in Krakow, two students from Czechia from the Masaryk University and the Palacký University Olomouc, two students from Italy from the University of Milan and the University of Padua, one student from Portugal from the University of Minho in Braga, one student from Serbia from the University of Novi Sad, one YUFE MINOR student from the Netherlands from Maastricht University, and one YUFE MINOR student from Spain from the University Carlos III of Madrid.

The Faculty of Economics and Business will play host to 32 students: 10 students from France from the Audencia Business School in Nantes, the ESCE International Business School Paris, the Neoma Business School in Reims, the Rennes School of Business, the University Grenoble-Alpes and the University Paris-Est Creteil Val-de Marne UPEC, four students from Latvia from the BA School of Business and Finance (Banku augstskola) in Riga and the University of Latvia, one student from Romania from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, six students from Poland from the Cracow University of Economics, the University of Economics in Katowice and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, three students from Germany from the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the Jade Hochschule and the University of Stuttgart, one student from Slovakia from the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, two students from Italy from the D’Annunzio University of Chieti – Pescara and the University of Naples “Parthenope”, one student from Serbia from the University of Business Academy in Novi Sad, one student from Spain from the University of the Basque Country, one student from Czechia from the University of West Bohemia, one student from Lithuania from the Vilnius University, and one student from Portugal from the European University of Lisbon.

During the Summer semester 27 students will study at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management: five students from Romania from the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, the University of Oradea and the Transilvania University of Brasov, one student from the Netherlands from the Breda University of Applied Sciences, two students from Czechia from the Charles University and the Masaryk University, two students from Poland from the Cracow University of Economics and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, two students from Germany from the Heilbronn University, two students from Finland from the LAB University of Applied Sciences and the Tampere University, four students from Latvia from the University of Life Sciences and Technologies, one student from the UK from the Liverpool John Moore’s University, one student from Bulgaria from the University St. Kliment Ohridski, two students from Slovakia from the University of Economics in Bratislava, one student from Italy from the University of Girona, one student from Slovenia from the University of Ljubljana, one student from Greece from the University of West Attica , one student from North Macedonia from the University St Kliment Ohridski – Bitola, and one student from Lithuania from the Vilniaus Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences.

Two students from Czechia from Charles University and Masaryk University will study at the Faculty of Medicine.

One student from North Macedonia from the SS Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje will study at the Faculty of Dental Medicine.

Five students will be studying at the Faculty of Health Studies: one student from Poland from the Bronislaw Markiewicz State University of Technology and Economics in Jaroslaw, two students from the Netherlands from the Saxion University of Applied Sciences, and two students from Belgium from the University of Antwerpen.

The Faculty of Informatics and Digital Technologies will play host to 11 students: three students from Germany from the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Dresden University of Technology, two students from Poland from the Kielce University of Technology, two students from Latvia from the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, three students from Italy from the University of Messina, and one student from Greece from the University of Peloponnese in Tripoli.

The Faculty of Mathematics will play host to two students from France from the CY Cergy Paris University.

The Faculty of Physics will welcome one student from France from Sorbonne University.

Six students will be granted mobility at the Faculty of Teacher Education: two students from Czechia from the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem, three students from Serbia from the University of Novi Sad, and one student from Spain from the University of Zaragoza.

Four students from France from the ESAIP Engineer School in Angers Anjou will study at the Faculty of Civil Engineering.

The Faculty of Maritime Studies will play host to 15 students: one student from Czechia from the College of Logistics in Přerov, one student from Poland from the Gdynia Maritime University, five students from Germany from the Jade University of Applied Sciences, five students from Slovakia from the Technical University of Kosice, and three students from Greece from the University of Piraeus.

The Faculty of Law will welcome 21 students: one student from Hungary from the Eötvös Loránd University, two students from Poland from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the University of Lodz, six students from Germany from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, the University of Munster and the University of Siegen, one student from Czechia from the Masaryk University, two students from Norway from UiT The Arctic University of Norway, seven students from Italy from the University of Camerino, the University of Padua, the University of Torino and the University of Trento, and two students from Greece from the University of Piraeus.

The Faculty of Engineering will play host to 10 students: seven students from France from the ESAIP Engineer School in Angers Anjou and the Université du Littoral Côte d’Opale (ULCO), one student from Poland from the Gdynia Maritime University, one student from Bosnia and Herzegovina from the University of Mostar, and one student from Finland from the Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT).

The majority of the students are coming from France (24), Poland (21), Germany (20), and Italy (15). In total, 317 Erasmus students will study at the University of Rijeka in 2022/2023.

The Vice-Rector for Studies, Students, and Quality Assurance, Prof. Marta Žuvić, Ph.D., and Head of the International Mobility and Erasmus Office, Ms. Maša Šašinka, welcomed the students and wished them a successful and productive mobility, as well as an entertaining stay in Rijeka and Croatia.

The employees of the International Mobility Center gave a presentation on the University of Rijeka and introduced the students to everything relating to their studies and stay in Rijeka and Croatia that would be useful to them.
Members of the Erasmus Student Network Rijeka presented the students with ESN’s activities, and the Lector of the Rijeka School of Croatian Studies, Sandra Jukić, introduced them to the possibility of enrolling in a Croatian language course.

After the official part of the information day, students had the opportunity to socialize and meet their new Erasmus colleagues at the Atrium of the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
