ESN Rijeka

ESN Rijeka was founded in 2012 as the second ESN section in Croatia. Since then, it has grown from a small group of enthusiastic students into a well-organised and dedicated team that continuously works on improving the Erasmus experience in Rijeka.

Today, ESN Rijeka brings together motivated members who approach their responsibilities with professionalism, creativity, and a positive attitude. Strong interpersonal relationships and a supportive atmosphere are at the core of our section – we don’t just work together, we grow together as a community. This team spirit enables effective collaboration across different teams and ensures that all members remain active and engaged.

Our work is organised through several teams, each contributing to the overall mission of ESN. We design and deliver a wide range of activities, from social gatherings to large-scale events. Culture team promotes intercultural exchange by organising activities that showcase local culture while encouraging international students to share their own traditions, fostering mutual understanding and diversity. Social Inclusion team promotes social responsibility and inclusion through various initiatives that connect international students with the local community. Health & Well-being team focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle, mental well-being, and balance through different activities and awareness campaigns. Party team focuses on organising nightlife events and creating fun, memorable experiences that help students connect in a relaxed environment. Travel team organises trips across Croatia and neighbouring countries, offering students the opportunity to explore the region. Meanwhile, PR team ensures clear and timely communication, keeping both international and local students informed about all activities and opportunities.

Over the years, ESN Rijeka has successfully organised numerous local, national, and international events, contributing actively to the ESN network and student life in Rijeka. The section also maintains strong cooperation with local student organisations and institutions, further enriching the experience of incoming students. We also closely cooperate with  Klub Mladih, Palach, Kišobran, Kitten Safe House, DiP and many other organisations.

Our recruitment process is designed to identify motivated and proactive individuals. It consists of completing an application form with motivational questions followed by an intervju, where we get to know the candidates better, their ideas, expectations, and what they can bring to our community. Selected candidates go through a trial period during which they demonstrate their engagement and commitment. Active participation, a positive mindset, and a collaborative attitude are key values we look for in our members.

Being a relatively small section in a close-knit city allows ESN Rijeka to build strong connections not only within the team but also with international students. This is reflected in the consistently positive feedback we receive regarding our hospitality, support, and welcoming environment.

Being an ESNer in Rijeka means more than being a buddy – it means being a reliable friend and support system for international students throughout their stay.
