Structure

The Head of the University is the Rector, who represents and manages the University, advocating for the University’s interests. The Rector presides over the University Senate and implements its decisions, and the Rector informs the Senate about his/her work. The Senate elects the Rector from among the ranks of university full professors with the scientific-teaching title. The Rector serves a four-year term with the possibility of one consecutive re-election. Since its foundation until today, the University of Rijeka has been headed by 16 rectors.
