The Rector is the Head of the University who acts for, represents, and manages the University. The Rector heads the Senate and executes its decisions. Rector is accountable to the Senate for their work. The Rector’s insignia consists of the Rector’s Chain and the Rector’s sceptre. The Rector is elected by the Senate among full-time professors. The Rector is in office for a period of four (4) years with the option of one consecutive re-election. The Rector is aided in his work by vice-rectors, assistants, and other associates thus comprising the Rector’s Management Board. From its foundation and up to April 2025, the University has been headed by 14 rectors.
