COVID-19 Messages: O pandemiji iz pet perspektiva

Sveučilište u Rijeci i Hrvatska akademija znanosti i umjetnosti – Zavod za biomedicinske znanosti u Rijeci organiziraju Interdisciplinarni znanstveni skup COVID-19 PORUKE (COVID-19 MESSAGES). Znanstvenu konferenciju  COVID-19 UNIRI MESSAGES organiziraju i programski osmišljaju Sveučilište u Rijeci i Hrvatska akademija znanosti i umjetnosti – Zavod za biomedicinske znanosti u Rijeci.  Konferencija je zamišljena kao ciklus od pet jednodnevnih znanstvenih skupova koji će se održati u razdoblju od rujna do studenog 2020. godine. Konferencija se održava u hibridnom obliku i radni jezik konferencije je engleski jezik.

COVID-19 UNIRI PORUKE

Znanstvena zajednica, zajedno s drugim društvenim sudionicima, usmjerena je na traženje rješenja za svjetsku krizu izazvanu pandemijom koronavirusa COVID-19. Istraživanja su primarno usmjerena na biomedicinu, zdravstvo i prirodne znanosti gdje se pokušava ne samo razumjeti narav virusa, pronaći cjepiva i lijekove, već i propitati značaj i buduću ulogu javno-zdravstvenog sektora u prevenciji i zaštiti građana. Ništa manje nisu mobilizirani i istraživači u drugim područjima znanosti. Stručnjaci u društvenim i humanističkim znanostima istražuju pojave i društvene posljedice šoka koji je svijet doživio, posebno u području obrazovanja koje je doživjelo tehnološku transformaciju bez presedana. Međutim, stručnjaci koji se bave područjima pravnih, ekonomskih, politoloških i socioloških istraživanja te humanistike intenzivno promišljaju o prijetnjama, izazovima i prilikama u vezi s uspostavom novog svjetskog poretka.

Stručnjacima u tehničkim znanostima kriza je otvorila iznimno važna pitanja daljnjeg razvoja i uloge informacijsko-komunikacijskih tehnologija, umjetne inteligencije, kibernetičke sigurnosti, a istraživanja u energetici i održivom razvoju zadobivaju nove dimenzije i zasluženu pozornost. Krizna komunikacija u svijetu društvenih mreža i povjerenje u stručnjake, institucije i lidere nameće se kao tema svih tema.  Čini se da sveobuhvatni društveni potres koji je pogodio svijet traži i nova i sveobuhvatna istraživanja koja nadilaze strogo disciplinarne skupine i zahtijevaju, više nego ikada prije, multidisciplinaran ili interdisciplinaran istraživački pristup i intenzivnu svjetsku suradnju. Štoviše, nalazimo se u društvenom trenutku u kojem treba iznova propitati i samu znanost, važnost i doseg znanstvenih istraživanja za unaprjeđenje svih segmenata društva i kvalitete života građana svijeta.

Suočeni smo s dilemom: hoće li ova kriza biti prolazna, nakon čega ćemo se vratiti ”normalnom” životu, ili će izazvati nepovratne promjene u načinu života kroz ”novo normalno”. Znanstvenici Sveučilišta u Rijeci dijele želju svih odgovornih i progresivnih znanstvenika i građana da doprinesemo promišljanju jednog novog i uistinu vrlog svijeta, koji imamo priliku izgraditi. Prva četiri znanstvena skupa bit će posvećena znanstvenim istraživanjima iz četiriju različitih područja – biomedicine, obrazovanja, tehnologije te društvenih i humanističkih znanosti, dok će peta biti posvećena studentskoj perspektivi na posljedice pandemije.

Posljednji, peti skup zamišljen je kao prostor na kojem će se sa studentima podijeliti dileme i razmišljanja o budućnosti visokog obrazovanja i društva u cjelini. Prije održavanja svakog skupa bit će objavljena knjiga sažetaka. Konačno, nakon završetka ciklusa, producirat ćemo dokument pod nazivom COVID-19 UNIRI MESSAGES koji će sadržavati zaključke o smjeru i potrebi daljnjih znanstvenih istraživanja i društvenih djelovanja. Time Sveučilište u Rijeci, uz podršku Hrvatske akademije znanosti i umjetnosti – Zavoda za biomedicinske znanosti u Rijeci, želi doprinijeti razmjeni ideja s ciljem uspješnijeg suočavanja s izazovima pandemije koronavirusa COVID-19 i naglasiti posvećenost Sveučilišta svojoj javnoj misiji društvene odgovornosti.
